Transferring to UBC Forestry

Transfer Credit Programs with Colleges in BC. The Faculty of Forestry has developed relationships with colleges thorough out BC that specialize in first year science and technical forestry. Students from rural communities can live closer to home and transfer to UBC after completing first year science and forestry courses.

Langara Transfer Program

Langara College offers a transfer program to UBC Faculty of Forestry. Students must meet the university’s general requirements for admission as a transfer student, and complete at least 30 credits at Langara to be eligible for transfer, into 3rd year.   • Successfully complete at least 30 and no more than 60 credits
  • Attain an admission average of 2.20 or greater on the most recent 30 transferable credits attempted, including failed and retaken courses.
  • Completion of required high school academic prerequisites. In some cases, university transferable coursework may satisfy these prerequisites.
  • Successfully complete the Transition Plan offered by Langara
    in collaboration with UBC
  • Course selection will depend on the undergraduate program selected. These can be found in the UBC calendar and students will be mentored individually.

Northwest Community College

In order to be considered as a transfer student, applicants will need to have completed a minimum of 24 credits of postsecondary work. UBC will calculate applicants’ admission GPA on the most recent 30 credits of postsecondary work. Successful candidates will be required to have a 62% overall GPA or higher in order to be admitted. Students in the Applied Coastal Ecology program at Northwest Community College may be granted a block transfer to the UBC Faculty of Forestry Natural Resources Conservation program after completing 30 credits of eligible courses. Thompson River University

The Thompson River University, Faculty of Science – Natural Resource Sciences developed a transfer program to UBC Faculty of Forestry. After completing the first two years at Thompson River University, students can transfer to 3rd year of UBC undergraduate degrees. Learn more on the Thompson River website.

Vancouver Island University

Vancouver Island University (VIU) offers the equivalent of the first two years of the University of British Columbia Bachelor of Science in Forestry (B.S.F.) Forest Resource Management major degree program. After completion of their 2nd year of study at VIU, students can transfer directly into the 3rd year of the UBC 4–year undergraduate degree program.
